CaroSpir (KAIR-oh-speer) will be the first commercially available spironolactone oral suspension.
CaroSpir is available as spironolactone 5 mg/mL...which is in line with the standard concentration recommended for oral liquid meds.
But watch for dosing differences. CaroSpir's starting dose for heart failure is 20 mg...compared to 25 mg for spironolactone tabs or compounded suspension. This is because CaroSpir results in spironolactone blood levels about 30% higher than the same dose of tabs.
