Treat Head Lice With OTC Permethrin 1% or Pyrethrins

New guidelines will help head off old concerns about head lice.

Continue to consider OTC permethrin 1% (Nix, etc) or pyrethrins (Rid, etc) first, plus REtreatment on day 9...even if labels say otherwise.

If lice persist, consider benzyl alcohol (Ulesfia) for kids 6 months and older...or malathion (Ovide, etc) in kids 2 years and up.
