Look for Cystic Fibrosis Patients Taking Bronchitol

Bronchitol (inhaled mannitol) will be a new add-on maintenance therapy in adults with cystic fibrosis (CF).

Think of it as similar to hypertonic saline. These osmotic agents draw water into the lungs to help thin out mucus so that patients can cough it up more easily.

Bronchitol is touted to be more convenient than hypertonic saline...which requires time to nebulize and isn't as portable.
