Know When to Use and When to Avoid Compression Stockings
Questions are coming up about the role of compression stockings.
We're most familiar with T.E.D. or thrombo-embolic deterrent hose. These "anti-embolism" stockings have graduated compression of 8 to 18 mmHg...and may reduce venous pooling in bedridden patients.
Other compression stockings are categorized by pressure. "Mild" compressions stockings are often referred to as "nonmedical."
