Act Fast When You Suspect Fournier's Gangrene Due to a Flozin
New safety concerns will put SGLT2 inhibitors (empagliflozin, etc) for type 2 diabetes in the spotlight again.
We know to stay alert for UTIs or yeast infections with flozins.
Now FDA is warning that flozins are linked to Fournier's gangrene...necrotizing fasciitis of the genitals and surrounding area, usually in men. But these cases are in men AND women...and may occur days to years after starting a flozin.
