A prolonged shortage is raising questions about best practices for conserving Rh(D) immune globulin (RhIG) supply.

RhIG is given to pregnant patients with Rh-negative blood types (A-, B-, etc) during and right after pregnancy. It prevents patients from making Rh antibodies if exposed to their baby’s Rh-positive blood.
