Bretylium was once a crash cart staple. But it was taken off the market in the late 1990s due to supply issues...and ACLS algorithms removed it, noting other meds work as well and are safer.
Now bretylium is back on the market. The manufacturer will suggest it's an option when amiodarone or lidocaine doesn't work or can't be used.
