Inbrija (in-BREE-jah) will be the first INHALED levodopa for adults with Parkinson's disease.
It's an on-demand levodopa that starts to work in about 10 minutes and lasts about an hour. It's used PRN to treat "off" episodes...when scheduled carbidopa/levodopa wears off between doses and symptoms return.
Patients will still need scheduled carbidopa/levodopa...and may also use add-ons, such as dopamine agonists (pramipexole, etc), MAO-B inhibitors (rasagiline, etc), or COMT inhibitors (entacapone, etc).
