Lean Toward Tirofiban or Eptifibatide When Bridging During DAPT Interruption
Some coronary stent patients will undergo IV antiplatelet bridging when oral dual antiplatelet therapy (DAPT) is interrupted.
Stopping DAPT within the first month after placing a bare-metal stent or 6 months after a drug-eluting stent can be tricky...due to increased risk of stent thrombosis.
Many surgeries can be postponed during this time. But urgent surgeries may require that oral DAPT be held during this risky period.
