New evidence will bring up questions about the best way to diurese acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) patients.

We know to give volume-overloaded patients IV loop diuretics (furosemide, etc). But side effects, such as renal dysfunction and electrolyte abnormalities, have created a push to find better options.

Hopes were set on tolvaptan (Samsca). It's used to treat severe hyponatremia by blocking vasopressin and increasing free water excretion.
