Add Hypoglycemia To Your List of Concerns With Tramadol
You'll hear that tramadol is associated with severe hypoglycemia.
There seems to be a 3-fold higher risk of hypoglycemia-related hospitalizations in patients taking tramadol compared to those on codeine.
But there's no proof tramadol is to blame. Plus this is just the relative increase. The absolute risk is low. Less than one in 1000 tramadol patients/yr seem to have a hypoglycemia-related hospitalization.
